Welcome to the website of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Alfaisal University. Mathematics is critical to the understanding of scientific and engineering concepts as nature laws are best described in a mathematical language, and as engineering concepts are modeled and achieved through mathematical tools. The Department is devoted to professionally design and offer all mathematics courses that satisfy the study plans of the different colleges and the University Preparatory Program. To further improve the mathematical learning process, our department has successfully implemented its mathematical tutoring services through the Math Peer Tutoring Program (MPTP). This program provides an additional quality experience for our students, and it effectively enhances their learning at both the theoretical and the practical levels. Moreover, our students receive further support through the office hours of their instructors.

The department offers a wide range of courses in the domains of mathematics and computers sciences to provide students with a solid background in these domains. This involves developing their analytical skills and critical thinking, and providing opportunity for them to discover the intellectual depth of mathematics and computer science, and their applications and relations to other disciplines. The department also sets itself the task of publishing quality research and serving the community within the scope of these domains and beyond.

Relevance to the KSA Science and Technology Policies

Mathematics and computer science play an ever-increasing key role in many disciplines, most notably in engineering and physical sciences, and hence relevant applications in these domains are of strategic importance to the Kingdom as it moves towards a knowledge-based economy.
